A BUSINESSMAN from Burnley has been banned from being a company director for three and-a-half years after falling foul of the VAT man.
Scrap dealer John Howard Blackburn, 50, of Yewlands Drive, was disqualified after his firm Jutex failed to keep up pay-as-you-earn and national insurance contributions for staff for nearly five years.
Smaller one-off payments were made, but there was still £8,361 outstanding when Jutex went under.
Customs and excise officials confirmed that unpaid VAT for the period amounts to more than £46,800.
The firm was placed in compulsory liquidation owing £64,524.
