Ramsbottom could become the place to be for Real Ale enthusiasts as Bury Metro Council planners have given the green light for the establishment of a micro brewery in the towns old industrial quarter.
Atlas Works, formerly an engineering mill,is to be the site on Princess Street/Irwell Street.
Irwell Works Brewery Ltd.,of Great Harwood are behind the bold plan to create a Micro Brewery and Visitor centre.
On the 1st floor is is envisaged that a licenced bar be established selling house beers and snacks. The resident licensee would live on the second floor.
Council officers stated that the development would not harm the appearance of the conservation area nor would it be detrimental to highway safety.
The centre can open at 10am and with entertainment in the evening must not be open later than 11pm.
It is thought the character of the original stone structure will remain with the retention of a weather vane on top. Disabled toliets will feature on site.
