TWO men were airlifted to hospital following a ‘serious’ road traffic accident in Cliviger this afternoon.

Police said both men had been on a motorcycle which crashed as it was travelling along Bacup Road, towards Burnley, just after 4pm.

Separate air ambulances landed in Crown Point Road, before taking the men to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

It is thought the two men suffered lower leg and pelvis injuries, which were not life-threatening.

Following the accident, Crown Point Road was closed for several hours.

Part of Burnley Road East was also closed, causing delays for rush-hour commuters.
