AN event to mark the 200th anniversary of the Clayton Wharf area of the Leeds Liverpool Canal took place on Saturday.
Visitors were able to look around the short boat Kennet, one of the last unconverted boats that worked on the canal. The boat made its final journey through Hyndburn from Blackburn throughout the afternoon, stopping at Rishton and Church Kirk.
Among the special guests were Hyndburn Mayor Malcolm Pritchard and his wife Irene, who took part in a horse shoe throwing game organised by Norman Blackburn of the Friends of Mercer Park.
There were balloon stalls, cake stalls and a big jigsaw for youngsters.
The local sea cadet branch was on hand teaching people sailor’s knots.
