STARS from the world of football and showbusiness came out to help a Rossendale salon raise thousands of pounds for a children's charity.
Hollyoaks actresses Saira Choudhry, Kieran Richardson and Cheryl Brady along with World Cup winner Ian Callaghan joined more than 200 hairdressers at the black tie evening organised by Brierleyduff, in Edenfield.
Other celebrities included X Factor’s Rowetta Idah and chart topper Nikki Belle who performed at the fund-raising bash hosted by Big Brother housemates Brian Belo and Rodrigo Lopes.
Salon owner Cheryl Brierley-Duff hailed the the event as a huge success after it raised £7,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
She said: “The committee are overjoyed with the support from our fellow hairdressers with this event. It has been amazing.
“As an industry we are very supportive of each other and it has been fantastic to use that support network to not only produce a fabulous evening but to raise money for such an important and worthy cause.
Liverpool legend Ian Callaghan auctioned an England shirt signed by the surviving members of the 1966 World Cup squad.
Adrian Allen, ambassador of Schwarzkopf, heaped praise on the salon for organising the event.
He said: “I had an amazing time with the young team that presented the hair raising ball.
“They were fun and eager to try new things and so enthusiastic. It’s guys like that who make me buzz . Th has set a new standard for industry nights.”
Guests who attended the evening bash at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, in Clayton-le-Moors, were greeted by stilt walking performers and street dancers from Rossendale Dance and Drama.
A luxury raffle also took place with prizes including spa weekends, vouchers from Rawtenstall designer clothes shop Sunday Best and hairdressing courses.
