MORE than 200 job cuts at BAE Systems in Samlesbury have been found through volunteers, the defence giant said.

BAE announced last year its plans to axe 205 posts at its East Lancashire base after Airbus work was switched.

The company said all job losses had been found through voluntary redundancies and no compulsory cuts needed to be made.

Despite the job losses, Samlesbury is currently the subject of a £750million investment.

Some employees from the firm’s Warton base have been switched to Samlesbury, which employs 5,800, and new aerodromes are being built to handle work on the world-leading Joint Strike Fighter programme.
