LANDLORDS across the Valley have been working alongside the borough’s police officers to underline the seriousness of domestic violence among residents.
“Give Domestic Violence the Red Card this World Cup” is the message police chiefs are sending to Rossendale families as the football tournament is expected to see an increase in abusive behaviour in June and July.
Staff at the Red Lion in Higher Cloughfold, Newchurch Road and the Rostron Arms, Market Place, Edenfield, have been some of the first pubs to sign up to the campaign.
Coun Peter Steen said: “We want everyone to enjoy the World Cup, but whatever the results of the games, domestic violence will not be tolerated.”
Amanda Lord, who runs, with her partner, Mark Ashton, the Red Lion at Higher Cloughfold and the Rostron Arms, Edenfield, helps to get the message accross, with PCSO John Peppper and a fellow PCSO.
