GERBIL the cat has exasperated her owner with her cheeky antics.

But now Sarah Coulson is celebrating her ‘bonkers’ pet.

Gerbil stands to win Sarah a safari trip after being shortlisted in a competition to find Britain’s most adventurous cat.

Sarah, 33, said Gerbil, was constantly on the go and embarrassing her with antics, including presenting her with underwear in front of other people.

However Gerbil, who loves to climb on to doors and up the curtains of Sarah’s Fielding Lane home, in Oswaldtwistle, could earn his owner the fantastic holiday to Kenya prize, plus a year’s supply of Go-Cat, after reaching the national finals of the Go-Cat Bobo Awards, with the winner expected to be announced later this month.

After being chosen from hundreds of ent-ries to the competition, Gerbil now stands a strong chance of be-ing crowned Britain’s most adventurous cat.

Local government officer Sarah said: “She’s just bonkers and always has been.

“She is still quite small so she can get away with kitten-like behaviour and scaling the curtains without pulling them down.”

Gerbil also has a sneaky knack of managing to get into rooms that have been purposefully shut too, but her most notable trait is presenting Sarah with gifts.

He’s brought her many unexpected items, but the one that tickled the Go-Cat judges was when he brought Sarah a bra, which had been drying on a clothes horse, while she was talking to her builder!

Sarah said: “I laughed it off, but it has made me more cautious about where I hang my washing in future!”
