A FATHER-of-one who urged a confused seven-year-old to copy what a porn star was doing in a film he was watching has been jailed for 12 years.

Robert Carrel, 54, also groped an 11-year-old girl and forced her to perform a sex act on him, Preston Crown Court was told.

He denied rape, four offences of indecency with children and two charges of sexual activity with a child but was convicted after an earlier trial in Burnley.

Judge Jonathan Gibson, who banned him from working with children for life or associating with them, said both his victims had been vulnerable.

But as he was jailed Carrel, of Belgrave Road, Colne, shouted: “I’m not guilty - you’re a dead judge.”

Carrel suffered a massive heart attack while on remand for the sex attacks and underwent a quadruple bypass operation, the court was told.

The younger girl was involved by Carrel in sexual conduct when she was aged both seven, and again when she was eight.

The older girl, who did not know the other youngster, was 11 and was also asked to perform sex acts on him.

Hugh Barton, defending, said: “He is still not in the best of health and is still on medication. One has to say that at this stage his life expectancy is not particularly good. It can be measured in years, but not that many.”

Carrel, who was convicted of unlawful intercourse aged 19, for having sex with a younger partner, still maintained his innocence, he added.

Following the case, Det Con Julia Hodgson, from the police public protection unit, who investigated Carrel along with Det Con Joanne Pemberton, then of Pendle CID, said the jail sentence imposed might bring ‘closure’ for his two victims.

“The events, as described in court, indicate they have been through an horrific ordeal and this sentence is more than satisfactory in the circumstances,” she said.
