A CHARITY’S cafe is in danger of closing due to a dwindling pool of volunteers.
Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Edenfield has a large modern café facility for visitors to the site which has been an invaluable source of income for the charity for many years.
Staff at the animal welfare site in Bury Old Road say that they are getting less offers from volunteers to help, which could see the cafe close.
Manager Neil Martin said: “Sadly our pool of available volunteers is dwindling as people get older or have other priorities in their family life.
“The café has been a significant source of income to Bleakholt. It would be dreadful if we had to lose it.”
The sanctuary is appealing for any interested volunteers, who do not need to commit to every weekend or even regular weekends as even four or five days per year would take the load off their regular volunteers.
