A CONVICTED robber who fled the country last year is back behind bars after more than a year on the run.
Kadeer Hussain, 33, had been released early on licence from a five-and-a-half year prison sentence and was living at Princess Gardens, Blackburn.
But he was recalled after being arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in February 2009 and fled to Pakistan.
Inspector John Clucas, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Criminal Justice Department, said Hussain, who also used to live in Haslingden, was held by officials on June 1 when he landed in Manchester on a late night flight from Islamabad.
Insp Clucas said: “Kadeer Hussain featured on last year’s Crimewatch Roadshow and from that we got a little snippet of information that he was abroad in Pakistan.
“He was picked up by the Border Agency on a flight into Manchester and returned straight to prison.
"This is one of the success stories, a case of ‘never give up’.”
