A Darwen manager was celebrating this week after winning a regional award for her work with older people.
Bernadette King, from extra care scheme Pembroke Court in George Street, was presented with the Care Manager of the Year Award in the North West regional final of the Anchor Smile Awards.
Work colleagues and older people nominated Bernadette for her dedicated, caring attitude and for the dignity and respect she shows her elderly customers every day.
Regional manager Mandy Cooper said: “She gives without being asked. She is a wonderful and inspirational manager. What is truly remarkable is her commitment to maintaining quality services to our customers.”
Head of operations Elaine Gilvear said: “I have never met such a selfless person who simply cares about customers and staff so much.”
The Anchor Smile Awards, designed for employees and older people to nominate staff who provide high quality care and services, received more than 1,000 nominations.
