AN iconic pub that has been closed for nearly three years is to be converted into six flats.

A planning application to change the use of the De Tabley Arms, Ribchester Road, Ribchester, from a restaurant/pub has been approved by planning bosses at Ribble Valley Borough Council.

Manchester insolvency firm Tomlinsons was appointed the administrator of the building’s owners, E W Properties, in 2007.

The building was later placed on the market for £2.2million.

A planning application was submitted by Mr P Ratcliffe, of Grassfloor Ltd, Ribbleside House, Salesbury Hall Road, Ribchester.

The pub was built in the 19th century by the De Tabley family.

It was owned by Whitbread Breweries for several years.

Blackburn pubs boss Margo Grimshaw bought it outright in 1992.

She leased it to Burlingtons in the early 1990s and then sold it for £1million in 2002.
