CADETS from all over Lancashire paraded through Blackburn to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the cadet movement.
More than 400 youngsters marched from the TA Centre on Canterbury Street to Blackburn Cathedral at lunchtime yesterday.
Cadets from Lancashire Army Cadet Force were joined by those from the Sea Cadet Corps, Combined Cadet Force and Air Cadets and representatives from Rossall School Combined Cadet Force in Fleetwood – reputed to have been the first cadet force, formed in 1860.
A salute was taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord John Shuttleworth, the Honorary Colonel of Lancashire Army Cadet Force, and Lady Ann Shuttleworth, before a special service was held in the cathedral.
