DIANA Vickers has stormed to the top of the UK album chart with her debut release, Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree.
The Huncoat teenager claimed the top spot ahead of East London rapper Plan B, whose second album, The Defamation of Strickland Banks charted at number two.
Rock legends ACDC, who claimed the number three spot with their Iron Man 2 soundtrack.
The former Westholme schoolgirl’s album, released last Monday, also staved off challenges from rock veterans, Hole and Deftones, as well as Chicago-based hip hop artist Kid Sister.
Diana, 18, shot to fame on ITV’s X Factor, reaching the semi-final stage of the competition before being booted out in December 2008.
TV’s ‘Mr Nasty’ Simon Cowell was a big fan of Diana throughout the competition, telling her she was the 'most relevant artist on the show'.
He also famously described her as the 'musical equivalent of Marmite' due to her distinctive voice.
Diana tasted chart success two weeks ago when her first single, Once went to number one.
She made history becoming the first ever solo artist from East Lancashire to reach the top spot.
