* ROSSENDALE and Darwen’s Conservative candidate Jake Berry has revealed he is partial to rare roast beef and a pint after some advice from a voter.
Mr Berry was contacted by a voter, called Margaret, who had received her postal ballot and was trying to make her mind up as to who she should vote for.
She had spent a couple of hours trying to find out about the candidates on the internet and suggested that Mr Berry should offer some information as to why he should win the vote.
On his blog he wrote: “Outside of politics, I have varied interests including water skiing, sailing, taking long walks with my dog across the West Pennine Moors and shopping for bargains.
“My favourite food is rare roast beef served with a good pint and what is great about Rossendale and Darwen, is that it boasts so many attractions where I can happily fulfil my hobbies and interests.”
* Tory leader David Cameron was in Lancashire yesterday, but has yet to grace the east of the county during the campaign.
His schedule included a trip to a community garden on an estate in Blackpool.
Tory candidates in East Lancashire are still hoping their man will pay them a visit, but they will only know at the last minute.
* It sounds like Nick Holt, the former BNP activist invited to stand as a Tory a year ago has again been courted by Darwen Conservatives for their local election campaign.
“I was asked to help out but I’m not doing a thing,” he told me.
* George Osborne tucked into a Chorley cake on a campaigning visit to the town.
But the delicacy wasn’t quite as local as it seemed - stallholder Norma Caney revealed it had been “imported” from Burnley’s Cherry Tree bakery.
* Burnley council hopeful David Hegginbotham is the latest candidate to lose his election signs.
The Tory said “four big signs” had been stolen.
* It’s tight at the top of my local Big Hitters League with Labour and the Conservatives both putting up five senior figures.
The Lib Dems are lagging behind with just two with a couple of days to go.
