AN ALBUM to raise funds for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation is set to be released next month.
The album, HOPE, will be released on May 22, to coincide with World Goth Day.
It will be available for £8 to download online only, with 100 per cent of the funds raised going to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
All of the goth artists involved, including big names such as New Model Army, Joolz, The Last Dance and Faith and the Muse, have given their time and donated their tracks for free.
A charity night in aid of Sophie will also take place at the Whitby Goth Weekend on Thursday.
A similar event last year raised more than £1,000.
Sophie was kicked to death in a Bacup park in August 2007 after her and her boyfriend were attacked by two teenagers for dressing as goths.
Her mum Sylvia has since launched the charity, the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, with a mission summed up using her daughter’s name as an acronym – Stamp Out Prejudice, Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere.
Sylvia’s aim is to raise £500,000 to educate youngsters at secondary school workshops about tolerance, and eventually at primary schools too, as well getting laws over Hate Crime changed.
