AN award-winning headteacher has been speaking to school bosses across East Lancashire in a drive to create outstanding schools in the area.
Gaynor Stubbs, of Wensley Fold Primary School, Blackburn, hopes to inspire school leaders and prospective headteachers to follow in her footsteps.
Mrs Stubbs, who said the key to success was to inspire each member of the team, has been sharing her experiences to help other teachers take the next step in their careers.
She told of her experiences that have led to the school becoming one of the handful of outstanding primary schools in East Lancashire.
Mrs Stubbs, who received the 2009 National College Award for Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School for the North West, took over as head of Wensley Fold CofE Primary 12 years ago when the school was in special measures.
She turned it into a beacon school after five years, and gained Government recognition that other schools should share its good practice.
Mrs Stubbs said: “I feel lucky to have been given the opportunity to shape the lives of children and families in my local community.”
Maxine Froggatt, for the National College, said: “She is a great example to all aspiring heads.”
