AN ADDICT found with drugs worth about £400 wanted to get free of the habit for his daughter, a court was told.
Ex-convict Shaun Ross, 38, had an "entrenched" addiction going back years and would not be able to conquer it on his own, Burnley magistrates heard.
He had been to jail for serious drugs offences but had never managed to break his habit while behind bars, the court was told.
Ross, of Hargher Street, Burnley, could be given a drug treatment and testing order to help his fight.
He admitted possessing heroin and two charges of possessing cocaine and was bailed until June 23, for a pre-sentence report.
John Begs, prosecuting, said police were called to a disturbance at a house where Ross was arrested and taken into custody.
The court was told Ross handed over two £10 bags of heroin and was searched. Mr Begs said that in his jacket a small bag of cocaine, worth between £20 and £25 was recovered.
Police also found 7.12 grammes of cocaine, worth just over £350.
David Leach, defending, said Ross would maintain the drugs were for personal use.
The solicitor added: "During the times he has been in custody, he has never, ever become drug-free. He has never had any help in prison or on release. There is no support in obtaining help.
"That problem will not go away unless there is some sort of intervention."
