ANDY Panayi and Mark Nightingale are two of the best jazz soloists in Europe and they team up with bassist Simon Woolf and drummer Steve Brown in Rawtenstall on June 6.
The Andy Panayi Quartet will be at the Rhythm Station and I urge anyone who loves modern jazz played by masters to be there. I certainly will be.
They'll present a programme reminiscent of the wonderful Gerry Mulligan-Bob Brookmayer collaborations.
I know Mark Nightingale well as he has appeared at jazz jamborees I have organised.
Besides being an outstandingly talented trombone player he is a terrific bloke.
Andy Panayi is a name I recognise through CDs and excellent reviews of his live' performances.
People whose opinion I value say he is equally as good on tenor and baritone and the quartet he leads is now rated headline material at major jazz festivals across Europe.
The Andy Panayi Quartet play the Rhythm Station in Rawtenstall on Tuesday, June 6.
