VOTING has now begun in the competition which will see two unknown bands win the prize of a lifetime a slot at six of the summer's biggest music festivals.
Eighty-eight bands from the North West have entered our Local Heroes competition including a host of well-known names from the East Lancashire circuit.
These bands need your support to give them a chance of emulating the Arctic Monkeys and to come from virtual obscurity to securing a place on a main stage.
Voting takes place throughout June. The competition has been divided into various regions around the country with the regional winners heading for a live final in London.
Newsquest, the publishers of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, is one of the main sponsors of Local Heroes.
Two bands will be selected by a panel of experts at the final to play alongside the likes of Babyshambles, Gomez and Martha Wainwright this summer.
