SHODDY' workmanship by sub-contractors has resulted in complaints flooding in to Pennine Housing, responsible for Todmorden's housing stock, the town's development committee was told.
Coun Dorothy Jordan said: "We have had several complaints about unfinished and shoddy work.
"Some residents have channels running down the walls in every room after rewiring work. It looks awful."
But Coun Joe Rez said Pennine Housing was no worse than when Todmorden took charge of the work and it would be interesting to compare the complaints figures.
Frances Clarke, operations manager for Pennine Housing Upper Valley, told the committee: "One of the difficulties we have had with the progress is with the performance of sub-contractors, which has led to some delays in works being completed.
"In an attempt to address this for the future, we are currently in the process of reviewing the way we operate schemes so that we can monitor contract and sub-contractor performance more carefully in terms of delivering programmes on time.
"In terms of quality of work, I am not aware of any specific issues and where there are these should be addressed by my project co-ordinator on completion of the work."
