WHEN you book a table, you don't really expect to find one too few chairs.
You certainly wouldn't expect to make up the seating arrangements yourself.
But that's what happened when I arrived at the Bull's Head in Wilpshire.
Thankfully, after getting my own seat to complete our table-for-two, while the waiting staff observed during a quiet period, the service vastly improved and they were attentive and polite.
Having dined there before, I didn't have any worries about the standard of food we'd be getting from a tempting menu. And I was right not to.
My starter of Buffalo mozzarella with tomato and salad was delicious but light enough not to spoil my appetite for my main course, while my boyfriend's serving of black pudding and bacon was also the perfect appetiser.
My only criticism would be the price. At £4.25 for the mozzarella and £4.75 for the black pudding I found that a bit steep for the size of the portions. However, the main courses seemed to even the bill out somewhat.
My seabass dish consisted of two large fillets, cooked to perfection, accompanied by leeks in a creamy but not sickly or stodgy sauce and a large roast potato.
At £12.95 I found that a more than reasonable price.
My boyfriend opted for fish and chips, with thick hand-cut chips and mushy peas a bargain at £7.95 for such a large helping which left no room for dessert.
