A HOUSING develop-ment has been given approval despite a 12-signature petition and 25 letters of objection from residents.
St Vincent's Housing Association was given the green light to build 13 apartments, two semi-detached, two three-storey houses and two three-storey town houses on land at Harehill Works, Windsor Road, Todmorden.
Resident objectors' representative Sarah Jones said the development would cause serious parking problems and added: "There is already significant congestion. We feel that this will be exacerbated in the future.
"We don't want to stop the site being developed, but we do object to density of the development.
"It is a walkway for a lot of children going to and from school."
But Development manager of St Vincent's, Yvonne McDermott said: "The scheme fulfils the recommendations of the housing strategy of providing much-needed affordable housing."
The scheme was submitted for approval for planning permission early this year, but Calderdale Planning Committee deferred its decision until it had received a planners' report.
