A SUMMER season of brass band concerts will be hitting the right notes with music-lovers.
Burnley council is staging a number of concerts in parks across the borough over the next two months.
They will be held on Sunday, June 4, from 2 to 4pm at Towneley Park, with Walton High School Big Band; Sunday, June 11, from 2 to 4pm at Padiham Memorial Park with Burnley Junior Alliance; Sunday, June 18, from 2 to 4pm at Scott Park, with Towneley High School brass band; and Sunday, July 29, from 2 to 4pm in Queen's Park, with Burnley Alliance Band (seniors) supporting Championship Brass from the Wingates Band.
Coun Roger Frost, the council's executive member for leisure and culture, said: "It's the sound of summer, our annual Bands in the Park series of brass band concerts that have proved so popular.
"They are a great way to pass a couple of very enjoyable hours, sitting out in the summer sun hopefully and listening to local musicians play a range of music that will appeal to all ages.
"I'd encourage people to come along and enjoy these free events.
"Even if you're not a brass band fan you might find yourself pleasantly surprised."
