PEOPLE in Burnley are being encouraged to come together to celebrate life in the borough.
Preparations are in full swing for this year's Burnley Community Festival and organisers hope residents will turn out in force to make the annual event the most successful yet.
Coun Roger Frost, the council's executive member for leisure and culture, said: "Burnley Community Festival is exactly that a festival for the local community.
"That's why we want to see as many local groups get involved as possible.
"The festival is always a marvellous day and whatever the reasons, I hope even more people come along this year for what promises to be a great day out."
The event will this year be held on Sunday, August 20, in Queen's Park from 12pm to 6pm.
There will be live music, street entertainers, sports events, marquees, fair rides for young children, community stalls and a climbing wall.
Last year more than 11,000 people flocked to the carnival organised by the council.
Burnley Community Network a network of more than 250 groups in the town is also funding a marquee for community, youth and faith groups to promote their work free of charge.
Coun Frost added: "The support of Burnley Community Network means local organisations have an opportunity to showcase the work they do, and perhaps encourage new members and supporters to get involved."
Space is limited and will allocated on a first come first serve. Groups have until July 21 to register.
