ONE of East Lancashire's most successful live music nights takes over the Cellar Bar in Blackburn on May 26.

Three bands are lined up for the Independent event which aims to showcase the best in unsigned talent.

Topping the bill are Money and the Masses, a Wigan-based garage/indie rock band who have recently supported the Arctic Monkeys, the Libertines and Pete Doherty.

They will line up with The Whyers from Oldham, a Sixties' influenced garage/punk outfit and local jazz/funk outfit False -Ve.

Independent was the brainchild of Matt Bury from Darwen who wanted to breath fresh life into the Blackburn music scene.

Since coming up with the concept in September, Independent will have staged 15 events.

Independent is at the Cellar Bar on Friday, May 26. Doors open at 8.30pm and entry is free.
