THOUSANDS of fun-seekers will be hoping for clear skies on Bank Holiday Monday when the 139th annual Great Harwood Agricultural Show gets under way.
In past years, the farming festival has attracted crowds of up to 7,000 to the showground, in Wood Street.
The show will run from 9am to 4pm, featuring a large number of livestock classes for rabbits, poultry, sheep, cattle, and heavy horses, plus show jumping, and a dog show attracting 70 breeds.
Other attractions will include a traditional fairground, a bouncy castle, slide, trade stands, and refreshments.
There will also be a 28-foot climbing wall for the more adventurous show-goer.
A number of more unusual sights are promised, including the Tell Tale Theatre Company, a bucking bull and ferret racing. New for this year there will be a Spanish horse riding display and a security dog team display.
There will even be a stall selling eco-friendly Christmas trees.
Organiser Rona Westwell said they are keeping their fingers crossed for good weather.
She said: "At the moment we are just hoping that the weather will be better than it has been all week.
"We have had great attendances in the past, which have been increasing for the past three years, and we hope that will continue."
She said that they are still looking for tug-of-war teams to compete at the event.
Teams must contain six people and they can be registered on the day.
