BUDDING soccer stars in Pendle will be taking part in a competition aimed at boosting fitness and team-building skills.
The 14th annual Pendle Youth Football Tournament is being held on Swinden and Bullholme playing fields, Barrowford.
The event which kicks off on Saturday, June 3, will this year see boys and girls aged from nine to 14 battle it out over two days to be crowned one of the best teams in the borough.
Trophies will be presented to the winners and the runners-up of each age group. There will also be a trophy for fair play.
Joe Cooney, Pendle Council's outdoor sports and recreation officer said: "Healthy living is a big topic at the moment and if kids take part in team sports they will get exercise and learn team-work skills.
"The tournament is always very competitive and if you come along and watch you might see a stand out player who has potential to go professional."
