A former aerospace worker is flying high after being chosen as the chairman of Lancashire County Council for 2006/07.
County Councillor Terry Burns, who represents Burnley North East, will be Lancashire's 40th Chairman since 1889 and the second youngest male holder of the post.
During his year in office, Coun Burns hopes to raise awareness of Lancashire's world class aerospace industry and encourage positive images of young people.
He said: "Within Lancashire, for many years we've had a first class aerospace industry. It's something I still feel very proud to have been part of. I hope to use my year as chairman to raise awareness of its achievements.
"In addition, I'd like to continue building links between the county's many diverse communities.
"In particular, the role of our young people and how they're perceived."
