The Answer play bluesy hard rock like the 90s never happened, drawing heavily on classic British and American bands.
Into the Gutter, taken from their forthcoming debut album, Rise, sports layered classic rock riffs lifted straight from 80s Aerosmith and combines them with interesting fills, flawless vocals and a driving beat.
The song breaks the traditional genre tradition of verse-chorus-verse-chorus with constant variation throughout, complete with a mad breakdown into an air guitar solo, itself just a chorus away from the overblown, epic ending that leaves you begging for more.
And there's two extra tracks on the single too - a standard blues number named Take It Easy and a dark, sneery stomper called Only the Strong Survive.
Hailing from Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, The Answer, along with bands like Wolfmother, are hopefully just the beginning of the new hard rock revival. Bring on the album.
Released May 29, 2006.
