A 22-YEAR-OLD Blackburn man who decided to do his girlfriend a favour wrecked two cars and damaged a house wall.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Leon Eccles was left in his partner's car while she popped into a shop and got behind the wheel to turn the car round.
But instead of hitting the brake he hit the accelerator and hit the gable end of a house in Bombay Street before slamming into a parked Saab.
He apologised to the Saab owner before running off. Eccles, of Ravenglass Road, pleaded guilty to taking a car without consent, aggravated by damage, driving other than in accordance with a licence and without insurance.
Scott Ainge, prosecuting, said Carla Jenkinson had collected Eccles from the pub at about 9.30 pm.
On the way home she stopped at a shop and left him in the car, with the keys in the ignition, while she went in.
"As she left the shop he came running past her," said Mr Ainge.
"Miss Jenkinson went round the corner and found her car embedded in the Saab."
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client apologised for what had happened.
"He knew she would have to turn the car round to continue the journey and thought he would do her a favour," said Mr Taylor.
"He accepts that he pressed the wrong pedal and after that simply panicked."
