THE secret to a happy marriage is "togetherness" said a Blackburn couple who celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary this week.
Annie and David Burgess, of Mowbray Avenue, said they were still as in love as ever and couldn't believe it was 60 years ago that they tied the knot at St Bartholomew's Church.
They met when Annie was just 16 and David 17 and after a four-year courtship walked down the aisle.
Annie said that all she wished now was that her granddaugher Colette, who gets married next year, will be as happy as they are.
She said: "Everyone has their ups and downs and you must be prepared to take the rough with the smooth.
"We have never let the sun go down on an argument as it is important to sort things out.
"We share everything and just have a good time together laughing and joking. David is so lovable I just can't help but give him a cuddle when I see him."
The couple will celebrate in style with their family on Saturday who will only tell them to be ready in the morning for a surprise!
