THE people of Darwen are being encouraged to get into the community spirit as members of Darwen Gala Committee prepare to stage their 2006 event.
The gala will take place on Saturday, August 19, on the Borough Road field following the popular annual parade.
Stalls are still available for charities, community groups, organisations and businesses and part of the main marquee will be reserved for crafts for sale or display.
Entries are also being taken for the popular parade which will set off from Anchor Road at 12.30pm and will go along the A666 for the official gala opening at 1.30pm.
People will be able to register floats and vehicles or can walk in fancy dress.
Gala chairman John Sturgess said: "We hope the people of Darwen will once again show their support for this traditional town event."
A programme, sponsored by Akzo Nobel Decorative Coatings, will be available from many town centre businesses nearer the time.
To book a stall call June on 01254 725958 and to find out more about the parade contact Bob on 706510 or Steve on 774804.
