A bakery has scored a hot deal after a major restaurant chain placed an order for its special snacks and Bombay Mix.

Now Tayyabah Bakery, based in two offices, in Eanam and in Randall Street, Blackburn, will supply three of its specialist Indian foods to Shere Khan restaurants in a major new deal.

Shere Khan is a North West-based Indian restaurant chain, which has a turnover of about £10million.

The group operates restaurants in areas including the famous Curry Mile in Rusholme, Manchester, the Trafford Centre and Chester.

Now the family-run Tayyabah Bakery will be supplying Bombay Mix, spicy chicken sausage rolls and chicken tikka pies to the chain, after the two firms were introduced through Blackburn-based business support group the Asian Business Federation(ABF).

Irfan Patel, operations manager for the firm, said: "We specialise in Asian biscuits but have diversified and are producing halal pies, pasties and sausage rolls.

"We met through the ABF. Shere Khan was looking for some Bombay Mix initially and we produce that as well so the ABF mentioned us.

"They arranged a meeting and it has gone from there.

"Shere Khan is very well-known. There is a bonus for us because they are actually franchising the business at the moment so whatever we produce will go into the franchises as well."

Currently the bakery produce 8,000 to 10,000 pies per week, but this figure is set to increase as the firm has only been producing pies for about three months.

The new deal is open ended, and is the bakery's highest profile contract yet.

Khalid Saifullah, CEO of the Asian Business Federation, said: "I am delighted that the ABF was able to bring together two such reputable firms.

"This reinforces the fundamental reason why I set up the Asian Business Federation to bring together ethnic minority businesses and create business opportunities that without the federation would not exist."
