Pupils at Holy Saviour School, Nelson, celebrated when news came through that a family of asylum seekers had won the first round of their battle to avoid deportation.
Nigel Karim, his wife Pearl and children Crystal, 13, and Calvin,11, returned to Nelson on Thursday, just 24 hours after being taken into custody.
The family are Christian and fear that they would be in danger if they were sent back to Pakistan.
Support for the Karims has come from friends, fellow worshippers at Holy Saviour School and the school, where Calvin is a pupil.
