POLICE have launched an investigation after a young Great Harwood man died in a car crash in Yorkshire at the weekend.
Jason Adam Muhsen, 22, was driving a blue Mercedes CLK 200 on the A59 Skipton Road near Blubberhouses in North Yorkshire when the crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
A police spokesman said the high-powered vehicle left the road and smashed through a stone wall before landing on its roof in a field.
Mr Muhsen, who lived in Allsprings Close, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2.30am.
An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned by North Yorkshire coroner Geoff Fell.
The inquest is not expected to take place until later in the year while investigations are carried out on the vehicle and at the scene in an attempt to determine why the car left the road.
The picturesque but busy road through the Yorkshire Dales joins Harrogate and Skipton and is popular with motorbike enthusiasts.
It is an A-road and is not known for a lot of accidents.
Mr Muhsen's funeral takes place today at St Bartholomew's Church in Great Harwood.
Grieving relatives said they were too upset to talk about Jason's death.
But his family, including parents Muhsen and Susan, brother Zeki and grandmother Eleanor, paid tribute by saying: "We will miss you always, you are forever in our hearts".
The funeral is at 1pm and is followed by a burial service at Great Harwood Cemetery.
