ONE of Burnley's most popular monthly club nights will be celebrating its eighth birthday on May 13.
Dexterity, now based at Churchills on Bank Parade, was the brainchild of promoters Jason Frost and Joe Lucas and has built up a reputation for providing a friendly atmosphere with some seriously good music along the way.
Trends in the club scene change rapidly so for a night to last so long is something special.
"If you would have said eight years ago that we would still be going in Burnley I wouldn't have believed it," said Jason.
"We still have some hard core clubbers from those early days but we have also attracted new faces along the way."
Jason attributes Dexterity's Mid Pennine Disco success to its music policy and the standard of DJs.
"The music is very diverse," he said. "You can hear anything from reggae to the Rollling Stones and this helps create a good party atmosphere."
The very first event was held in Burnley before moving to Manchester.
The night then moved back to Burnley and the Keirby Hotel, where it was a fixture for several years.
The club has proved a stepping stone for a number of DJs who have gone on to national acclaim after getting a break in Burnley.
These include DJ Woody, the world scratch champion, and Marcus Intalex, who recently DJ'd at the renowned Solar Festival in Barcelona.
As well as promoting the Mid Pennine Disco, Jason and Joe are also known as Audiotraffic and have had a series of hits across Europe.
They are now setting up their own Mid Pennine label, with a series of limited edition releases being planned.
Dexterity's eighth birthday party, Churchills, Bank Street, Burnley, Saturday May 13 from 10pm.
