EAST Lancashire MPs Greg Pope and Nigel Evans have taken their campaign against BBC plans to raise the licence fee above the rate of inflation to Westminster.
They are horrified that the 2.3 per cent a year above inflation rise would push the cost of watching TV from £126.50 to between £180 and £200 by 2013 while paying stars such as Jonathan Ross and Chris Evans huge salaries.
Hyndburn's Labour MP Mr Pope and Ribble Valley Tory Mr Evans have joined forces across the political divide to call for Parliament to have a vote on any future increases.
They have put down a Commons Motion which says: "We believe that any such rise would be particularly hard to justify in the light of the extravagant salaries of some BBC presenters."
