A PETITION aimed at bringing more jobs to Darwen has been handed to Blackburn with Darwen Council by resident and campaigner Ronnie Tate.
Mr Tate, 38, of Bridge Street, Darwen, started collecting signatures last month from people who agreed with him that there should be more local labourers working on regeneration projects in the town.
He has now handed in the petition containing around 250 signatures to Darwen town hall.
The petition said: "We, as residents of Darwen, are signing this petition to point out to the council that construction firms working in the town should employ local people instead of bringing people from outside towns when many people in Darwen are out of work."
The council previously stated it had a strong record of ensuring new businesses recruited local staff.
