GOVERNMENT inspectors have shown they are down with kids' agreeing with pupils in Burnley that their school is "cool".
A team from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) gave the verdict after a visit to Stoneyholme Community Primary School. Lead inspector Gordon Alston told the 382 pupils of the Oswald Street school they were right to give it their seal of approval.
He said: "I always ask pupils their views and one said, school's cool, everyone gets on and we learn lots of new things'.
"She was right: your school is a caring school where everybody contributes.
"You have a good team of adults led by a hard-working headteacher and everyone wants you to do as well as you can."
Pupils are also praised for their behaviour. Staff at the school, led by head Judy Swann were also championed for "creating a caring and encouraging learning environment where all pupils are valued."
Inspectors also labelled the curri-culum "good" and added "teaching and learning are satis-factory overall, with some good teaching."
Pupils' achievement was also deemed "satisfactory."
However the school was told it needs to improve as standards of maths and English were "below average".
Mrs Swann said: "This is a validation of everybody's hard work. It was one of the kids who said to the inspector the school was cool.
"That's nice because it's important to us kids enjoy being here."
