PEOPLE in Lancashire are being encouraged to think about fostering in Foster Care Fortnight which started this week.

Lancashire County Council has launched a campaign to attract more people in the area to be foster carers.

The County Council currently supports 658 approved foster carers across the county, but around 50 more carers are needed, particularly those to look after sibling groups and older children who can not be adopted and need a permanent foster home.

County Coun Clive Grunshaw, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "The aim of our current recruitment drive is about increasing our pool of foster carers to offer greater placement choice in meeting the needs of children needing a foster home and in best matching a child with a foster carer."
