A retired engineer-fitter from Oswaldtwistle died from a blood clot in his lung following a fall at his home.
William Barrett, 82, of Dunster Avenue, was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary after falling out of bed and fracturing his hip.
A post mortem examination found a blood clot, formed in his leg while in hospital recovering from the fracture, had broken away and blocked the main artery to his lungs.
The inquest heard Mr Barrett had osteoporosis which caused the right neck of his femur to fracture on January 28. He died on February 3.
Coroner Michael Singleton recorded a verdict of natural causes.
