TALKS were due to continue today over who should take the reins of Burnley Council after Labour lost control of the authority in last week's local elections.
Thursday's poll left Labour and the Liberal Democrats with 16 councillors each, meaning no party has overall control of the authority.
Talks have been going between the party groups to try and resolve the deadlock, which is likely to result in a coalition between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives.
The elections were a disaster for Labour which lost five seats, including party and council leader Stuart Caddy and his right-hand man Peter Kenyon.
The Liberal Democrats gained five seats, and the Conservatives and British National Party one seat each.
