AN Accrington charity is helping to beat stress by offering free holistic massages.
Holistic therapy sessions will be available at Maundy Relief, in Abbey Street, and are aimed at stressed-out carers and other people who "need a treat".
As well as massages there will also be the option to enjoy aromatherapy, reiki, reflexology and other natural healing methods.
Dorothy McGregor, the manager at Maundy Relief, said: "We have got seven qualified therapists who will work at Maundy to offer a full range of therapies.
"We are launching the sessions particularly with carers and young carers in mind, as well as social services workers. These people have very stressful lives and devote themselves to helping others.
"But we are not limiting the sessions, anyone, any age, can come down and book an appointment if they need a treat."
Mrs McGregor said that the therapy sessions will be paid for by donations and are likely to cost the charity up to £100 per week to put on.
Maundy Relief specialises in caring for the homeless and Mrs McGregor insisted that no money that has been donated for the homeless will be used in the scheme.
They have received £3,700 grant funding to get the venture up and running.
Staff at Maundy Relief have renovated the area of their building known as The Cell to be used in the therapy sessions.
The rooms date back to the 10th Century and Mrs McGregor said it makes a "lovely setting" for the venture. She added: "We have named the main room Samantha's Room after the daughter of one of our councillors who died recently.
"It is really beautiful up there and looks so different. It is lovely."
The official launch of the therapy sessions takes place on Wednesday, May 15, at 11am.
