DARWEN youngsters are hoping to forge links with the town's elderly people in a bid to create a lasting record of Belgrave Mill and its history.
As the huge mill is demolished to make way for new housing this month, pupils at Holy Trinity Primary School will record an oral history of the former Crown Wallcoverings factory so its history is remembered for years to come.
Once the DVD is completed, it will then be used by other schools as part of local history lessons.
The history project will be carried out by year-six children and two of the school's teachers will be trained to video their interviews with former employees and elderly people in the town.
They are currently seeking volunteers over the age of 60 who used to work at the mill to tell their stories.
Headteacher Kathleen Tyson said: "We want to make a record of memories and historical events which have taken place on the site and want to get in touch with people who worked at the mill or have links to it."
Anyone willing to be interviewed should contact the school on 01254 702119.
