POLICE in Clayton-le-Moors have vowed to take up permanent residence in their new "drop-in" centre in the next few weeks two months later than originally planned.
The new centre, the first of its kind in Hyndburn, was due to open at the beginning of April.
But now, with new computer equipment still not installed at the base in Arthur Street, a June date has been pencilled in for the local community beat managers to take up full-time residence.
PC Rob Flanagan and his colleague PC Stuart Welch have already started working from offices at the neighbourhood management centre but are unable to start or end their shifts there without the computers.
PC Flanagan said: "People can come into the building and speak to us about any problems they are having."
He added: "Unofficially we have been at the neighbourhood management centre since April and we are getting a lot of feedback already."
The community beat managers were based in Great Harwood police station and still have to begin and end their shifts there.
The new drop-in centre will be open five days a week.
