A MOTHER who intervened when her husband became aggressive towards her son was punched in the face.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Dariusz Szopinski then kicked the boy very hard on the backside leaving him lying on the floor crying in pain.
Szopinski then turned on his wife again, threw her out of the front door and locked her out.
Szopinski, 31, of Lower Barnes Street, Clayton-le-Moors pleaded guilty to assaulting Danuta Szopinski and her nine year old son. He was remanded on bail until April 27 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Claire Fanning, prosecuting, said the family had moved to Blackburn from Poland about 12 months ago. Mrs Szopinski said that in Poland her husband was never violent towards her but since they moved he had started drinking a lot and becoming violent.
Ian Huggan, defending, said his client was embarrassed and ashamed by the incident.
