A FORMER mayor today spoke of his terror after his home was targeted by yobs.
Granville Lord said he believed somebody with a personal vendetta could be responsible for the attacks at his home in Guy Street, Padiham.
In a bid to catch the culprits he has put up a reward for information leading to a conviction and he is going to install CCTV cameras.
Police are investigating a series of incidents and said the culprits were targeting a man who had done a lot of good work for the people of Padiham Mr Lord, who was the town's first mayor for 28 years when he was appointed in 2002, revealed: l Two windows were smashed at the side of his home last Wednesday night.
l Three windows were shattered the following evening.
l His home was pelted by rocks and his windows smashed just before Christmas l And the previous year vandals stole his England flag and set it alight on St George's Day.
The 64-year-old, who is married to Pat, is still recovering after being involved in a serious crash on the M62 last year.
He said: "I don't really know why this is happening to us but I believe it's somebody with a vendetta against me."
Mr Lord resigned as mayor over what he described as a "witch hunt".
He felt he was being forced out of Padiham Council after being criticised for speaking to the press about public toilets in the town centre being used as a meeting place for homosexual men.
Mr Lord, who recently retired from working in marketing at Burnley College, contacted the police after the vandalism and is now going to install CCTV as a deterrent.
He added: "Pat has been left very upset by the whole thing. It's the last thing that we need right now.
"I'm not in the best of health after the accident. My nerve ends are shattered and Pat has got blood clots in her leg.
"I know there have been a lot of problems in Padiham recently with juvenile nuisance but this goes beyond children playing or just being naughty it's a criminal act that has left us feeling vulnerable. I really can't go on like this. It's driving me crazy."
Inspector Dave Croll of Pennine Police said: "Granville Lord has done a lot of good work for the people of Padiham.
"It's unfortunate he has suffered from these mindless acts of vandalism.
"We are investigating the incidents and would urge anybody with information to contact the police to help catch the people responsible."
