A HASLINGDEN man who attacked his partner's best friend after a drinking session left her with a cut lip and bruises.

Jason Pilling, 26, lost his temper after being "escorted" out of his girlfriend's house and punched and headbutted victim Tracey Pounder.

The defendant was later arrested but denied the allegations, Burnley mag-istrates heard.

Pilling, of Blackburn Road, admitted assault by beating last May and possessing cannabis.

He was given 150 hours community service with £50 costs and £100 compensation.

Andrew Creswell, prosecuting, told the court Pilling's partner Jade Blade was at home with three children doing college work when Pilling turned up, worse for drink and still with a pint pot in his hand.

Miss Blade asked him to go but he refused and because they had a volatile relationship, she rang Miss Pounder and asked her to help.

Mr Creswell said Pilling sat down in a chair pretending to be asleep and when the victim arrived they escorted him outside.

He said Pilling was not happy about that and lost his temper, raining blows on Miss Pounder.

He punched her to the face and then headbutted her.

Janet Sime, defending, said Pilling had been drinking and did not have a great recollection of what happened.
